show up for practice early and show him that you are motivated by hitting as many shots as you can. If you want to show that you are very capable, I would advise hitting backhand a lot because the two-handed backhand often shows a lot more force and capability.
Tell him that you really want to be on the team and promise that you will work hard—and of course, follow through…in both the swing and the promise!
Best of luck!

Show your motivated. If he feeds balls to you, bounce up and down in line, to show motivation. Be a good sport. If he shook your hand, it probably means he is going to put you on the team.

Play every point like its match point, many times this can show a coach how motivated you are to tennis, also if the team needs about 5 more girls, then the chances of getting pick are high.

Try to hit everything. Go for the tough shots even if you don’t make them. He will see that you want to impress. If you miss the shots reprimand yourself a little so he can see you doing it. He will see you want to improve. Good Luck

Unless you are at a highly competitive school in tennis, you shouldn’t need to worry too much. Just play your best. A good coach will be able to tell when a player is trying as hard as they can, and that’s what they are looking for. I know it’s no magical solution to get you noticed, but that’s just how it works.
Many people go into tryouts thinking “I need to impress the coach with my skills”. Then they go out and are very nervous, and try shots that they never should. This will actually make you look worse.
Just go out there and have fun. That’s what it’s all about. If you relax and have fun, everything else should just fall into place for you.
