I played three years of guys HS tennis, one JV singles, and two V doubles. In my experience, when I played against girls, they absolutely HATED any type of slice shots. They couldn’t tell where it was going to go off of the bounce, let alone be able to hit it back effectivly, although this might not be the case where you live. My suggestion, learn slice and try it out. See how your teammates play against it, and if they can’t handle it, chances are your competition won’t be able to either. Good luck making varsity.

I was on jv girls tennis last season and the matches aren’t that hard. Jv players are all pretty new at tennis so don’t stress about that. my advice is to not let them **** you off. That was a main problem on our team. The other teams would be rude and that would make us mad. So we would worry about that while they took advantage of it and would beat us. Stay in your own game and don’t get distracted. Work on everything. Know how to to return a serve well. Some girls will surprise you and have a kick-*ss serve and you need to know how to give it right back to them. Most of your team will be on doubles so if you are on doubles, work on volleys because half the time you are at the net. If you are a singles player, work on groundstrokes and maybe developing some spin shots.
Hope i helped!

You’ve played for a few years and you have no experience in matches?
Confidence is the biggest thing in matches but you also have to think about everything you can take advantage of. Like if the kids fat I run the hell out of him and if they’ve got a big chest(talking about fat kids again but I guess it applies to girls too. hit it their backhand at the net, really fun shot by the way, so funny when they can’t reach the whole way. Back to confidence, make shots you KNOW you can make over a shot you think you can make. Oh and never ever give up on a ball, you’d be suprised what you can get.
